Free time
Now that I’m done with my MA I have all sorts of time on my hands. It’s kind of overwhelming. I realize I’ve haven’t had free time in a long while. Before I had the M.A. I had two part time jobs. I might have some kind of over scheduling compulsion.
When Nutella arrives in January I know that she will take up some of my free time, but until then I go to Locombia in Dec. I need to keep myself busy, so I’ve made a list… feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments.
1) Volunteer to do something at church
2) Learn all the words to T.I.’s rap in “Live your life” ( I know, I know, a very lofty goal)
3) Re-design the blog
4) Learn how to use my digital camera better
5) Continue to indulge my NKOTB fanaticism
6) Read a book for fun
7) Finish watching Season 3 of Entourage
8) Paint stuff around the house
9) Learn new slang. I just added “That’s so ninja to my vocab”. Shauntay has already said that I am to stop using said phrase.
10) Excercise all my MA comp exam fat off. (This should take a short 10 months or so). :)
So many things to be THANKFUL for!
3) Arnold brought me macaroons from Ginger Elizabeth to celebrate. Yummmmm
4) Central heat and air – Say no more.
5) I got a new camera that is much smaller and takes great pictures. I took the tulip pic above!

1) Being able to go to an awesome Colorectal Cancer conference today! Normally I wouldn’t be please about getting up at 6:30 am to work a 12 hour day on Saturday, but today was SO AWESOME. I got to attend a panel of some of the top gastronenterology surgeons and oncologist from UCLA. Now I know what a colonoscopy looks like, a laparoscopic surgery and a liver re-section looks like. In case you ever decide to watch one of these, I’m just warning you… surgery is a little bit violent.
2) One of the CRC survivors today was SO COOL! She was so chic, like Coco Chanel. I would never have guessed that she was a five-year survivor of STAGE 4 colorectal cancer (fyi, stage four cancer is not good)
3) Another survivor was totally Samantha from Sex in the City. Loves it! I can totally have imagined her going ballistic on a wig guy just like Samantha did.
4) The weather on the return flight from LA was sooooooooo beautiful… the plane landed just as the sun was dipping down, saturating the whole valley with color. Plus the sky had that crystalline effect that you only get right after a rainstorm followed by sun.
5) I don’t have colorectal cancer. Hanging out with cancer survivors gives you perspective quick.
