Five for Friday Pt. 10

1) Movies:  Amelie is hands-down my favorite movie.  Its’ director Jean-Pierre Pierre Jeunet has a new movie coming out that looks great.  Can’t wait till it comes to Sac!

2) Food:  Remember the Carrot Cake Cookies?  Well my friend Kat found a recipe for some.  God bless the internet.  You can find the recipe here.

3) Fashion/Blog Love:  I can’t get over these beautiful pictures of Emma Watson and another one of my favorite “pretty” blogs “This is Glamorous”.  Check out more here.

4) Music/Manjoyment:  I’ve been singing Good Vibrations all week ever since I heard it on Glee.    The cover of Beck’s “Loser” also rocked.  The 90s were a wonderful time good people!    Feel the vibration! C’mon, c’mon!  Feel it!  Feel it!

5) Design:  I may have been somewhat dissapointed in SATC2′s writing but I loved the set design per usual.  I have no problem moving in to Carrie and Big’s apartment.

I pretty much love it all which is surprising since my house is totally different. That may be of course because Carrie and Big are both fictional and very rich while I am real and a civil servant.

Weekend Update #14 – Memorial Day Weekend

Justy and I went to the drive in to see Sex and the City. They have a very clear policy on refunds and fog that I was not previously aware of. Duly noted.

Somebody is sooooo over the farmer's market.

We hit up New Canton on Monday morning.

Yum. Yum. Dim Sum.

The Fairy Godmothers were in full effect at Yum Yum Dim Sum.

Also in attendance? Lady Gaga via an "All Lady Gaga Memorial Day Marathon"

A 3-Day weekend also requires a trip to IKEA.

My crew takes furniture testing very seriously.

It's also important to find out whether any kitchen accessories might actually do double-duty as a light saber or electromagnetic force field.

Follow-up IKEA with some homemade Asparagus pizza to recuperate your strength.

Don't forget to wash it down with pretend soy milk straight from the carton and a pretend cell phone made with the cap!

Five for Friday Pt. 9

1) Cuteness:  We saw baby sloths in Panama last year.  I can testify that they are pure sweetness.

more about “SLoth!“, posted with vodpod
2) Blog Love: Coco and Kelley.  This blog is beautiful.  I chose the word beautiful very specifically.  Caitlin covers both design and fashion. I’m not a fashion girl per se but I cannot resist this one.

3) Design:

I like rainbows. Both real and implied.

4) Food:  I spent this week in Atlanta.  I tried my first Mint Julep, grits and real southern style greens.  I also hit up FlipBurger for some funky moleculary gastronomy food… like the infamous Nutella milkshakes with toasted marshmellows on top.  Love the south.

5) Books:  I’ve been reading a new book.  Thank you to our sponsor “free time on the airplane courtesy of business trip to Atlanta”.  It’s been slow-going because it’s a little more challenging: higher register vocab, literary references and more complicated than Bridget Jones plot line.  I like it though.  I feel like a challenge. I can do it!  I’m only halfway through but I think it’s going to be a recommend.  Ilustrado by Miguel Syjuco.

I stayed up too late in ATL. Look at that digital alarm clock!

Five for Friday Pt 8

1) Dance:  DWTS fans.  Nicole Scherzinger RIPPED it up tangoing with Derek Hough on this week’s show.  I cannot even find the words to describe how difficult it is to do what she did in this dancing.  I love how he lifts her with one foot, slooooowly at the end. Absolutely beautiful.

2) Manjoyment: It’s the weekend ladies.  Thanks Vogue and GQ for giving us the following Gleeks:

You know those Spanish teachers are sexy under their sweater vests....

3) Blog Love:  I’m late to this party but I just learned about the Pioneer Woman’s blog.  It is funny stories, recipes and photo advice all in one.  This really doesn’t describe the awesomeness that is the blog but it’ll have to suffice.  Check it out here.

4) Food:  I had a rough time this week and several of my friends helped me out in lots of different ways.  One of them brought cookies.  Peanut-butter chocolate cookies!  Clearly she reads the blog.  They were deliciousness and they are all gone two days later.  Oops.

5) Inspiration Board:  This was one of my favorite Domino mag spreads.  Le sigh.  I still miss Domino the way one misses an old boyfriend.  You know it’s over but it’s hard to get it out of your system.

This is Rashida Jones NY studio. When i am a retiree I shall have a white french style sofa in my NY studio. I have decreed it, it must be so!

And bonus:  I loved Michelle’s post about marriage yesterday.  She nailed it.  Check out here.

The Big Eat

Uh… so as you know I’ve been working on my Forty x Forty list and I’ve added something new.  THE BIG EAT!  The BIG EAT is a list of 100 things that you should eat in San Francisco before you die.  This my friends is right up my alley.  I love eating and I love lists.  So a list of delicious food to methodically checklist my way through.? Too perfect.

Seriously?  Seriously!!!!!

Every year a new list comes out so I’m planning on eating a minimum of 10 things off the list each year for the next 10 years.  By the time I turn 40 I’ll have eaten 100 things and possibly be morbidly obese.  Check out the list here.
